About
I am an ELT professional earning my Master’s with the TESOL-AL program at Teachers College, Columbia University. After gaining eight years of teaching experience, both overseas and domestically in the U.S., the courses I have taken in my MA program have helped me to become a more well-versed ELT professional.
I have gained the skills needed to assess and develop my students’ knowledge of English grammar, vocabulary, and phonology, as well as foster their application of that knowledge to the skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. I have taught students ranging in age from 5 to over 60, in a variety of teaching contexts – from one-on-one to small and large classrooms. I have taught general English, Business English, and test preparation.
ELT has also allowed me to spend years immersed in a variety of distinct cultures and languages, teaching students from all regions of the world with whom I’ve achieved a good rapport. As a result of my diverse experience I continuously re-evaluate my approach to education while aiming at strong student-centered lessons which value all cultures and backgrounds.
While continuing to build on my teaching experiences, my ultimate goal in obtaining a Master’s in TESOL is to leverage my education and expertise to support English language education by way of materials and curriculum development and publishing.
